There are couple of things I learned about highway recently and it is quite useful for navigating. 1) The even numbered highway routes run from West to East. The lower no. is in the South and the higher on the North. ie. I-10 2) The odd numbered highway routes run from North to South. The lower no is in the West and it gets towards the East. ie. I-35 3) Its good to have a rough picture of the map of your city. It the area is located North, East, etc so you can enter that highway going towards/away from that direction. 4) The exit is mostly on the right but sometimes it could be on the left, mostly there will be a yellow circle on it to indicate that the exit is on the left. Mostly you will know the exit before a mile or so before. 5) The interstate mile count shows you the value from the west to the east for the east-west bound route and the mile counts increases from south to north for south -north bound highways.
